treasure

For two nights and two days, I was sick. By sick, I don't mean lethargic, whining, feeling crappy sick. I mean I was out for the count sick. I called Joe into the bedroom early in the morning and told him that I was out, he had to do everything until I was better- and he did! :) But that is another story.

This story takes place last night. I had just pulled myself out of the bathroom (or, as it is now known, Pukeville) and crawled onto one of my bathroom mats. I was enjoying the coolness of the tile which radiated against my fever, along with taking a moment to send thanks for the surge of energy I had gotten a few days ago to scrub the bathroom.

Daegan tip toes into the bathroom with me and quietly lays down on the mat, eye to eye with me, grabbing my very wilted hand with his tiny fingers.

"It's ok, Mommy," he whispered, petting my cheek with his other hand. "It's ok. You don't have to be sick right now. We are on a pirate ship, sailing far far away. Pirates don't get sick, so that will make you feel better. We are far on the ocean, just you and me and our pirate ship."

I couldn't help but feel like a real pirate- treasure and all. ;)

Kinetic

Forever one in favor of nurturing both the feminine and masculine aspects of my children's personalities, I have come to the conclusion that the term, "Boys will be boys," actually may just be true.

Daegan is a freaking little ball of kinetic energy. He climbs, tackles, jumps, runs, rides everywhere and everything he can. He is pretty good about following the rules- which tables he is not allowed on, which things he is not permitted to jump from- but still, that kid is active.

Everything revolves around exercise. Finish lines are goals he wants to meet. Stretching and pilates are pastimes. He loves to race, oh boy! The kid will race anyone, anywhere! He insists on wearing only his "running shirts," which are tank tops (lol!) He begs to go running with me when I try to slip out the door. "Please, mommy! Please? I want to run faster and faster! I want to run to the finish line with you!!"

But then again, I have to challenge my earlier thought- maybe this is not a product of him being male, but rather him being our child. I mean, our family culture is heavy into the activity, so it could just be that he wants to be like us. Who knows?

Even Logan is getting in on it- did you know that a 1 year old can and will do yoga? Yup.
